Tuesday 24th March

Dear Parents and Carers,

I write following yesterday’s communication. Premier Gladys Berejiklian announced that the NSW Government was ‘….encouraging parents to keep their children at home’ from Tuesday 24th March.

Schools will remain open indefinitely for the supervision of children of essential service workers only.

The Premier’s advice indicated that schools will provide ‘learning packs’ for students to work on either at home or at school. The Premier advised that teaching and learning will not continue as normal on site in schools, but rather teachers would be ‘supervising’ those children of essential service workers as they complete their ‘learning packs’ on site. The Premier’s vision is that the learning packs will be the same for those at home and those at school.

BPPS will begin distribution of ‘learning packs’ today from 3pm here at school for all students K-6. Further advice will follow later in the day about where parents will collect each child’s materials here at school. The ‘learning packs’ will be available at school all week. Don’t worry if you cannot collect until tomorrow or even the next day. If needed, the school will deliver.

BPPS will build a more substantial and complete learning platform – online – for the commencement of Term Two. This work will be considered and integrated and will require the distribution of technology to students as needed. Further details will follow before the school holidays. We will transition to an online / remote environment very carefully with consideration of all possibilities.

Thank you for your patience.

Paul Taylor
